The Richmond Black Leaders Association (RBLA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2025 by Black Richmond high school alumni dedicated to supporting adults experiencing homelessness in Richmond, Virginia and the Tri-City area. Our mission is to provide essential services, financial assistance, advocacy, and mentorship to help individuals and families achieve housing stability and improve their quality of life.
RBLA focuses on direct rent assistance for adults ages 21–65, with the majority of donated funds paid directly to housing providers to ensure transparency and impact. In addition to financial support, we offer mentorship opportunities designed to empower participants with guidance, resources, and community connections that promote long-term stability.
Through collaboration, accountability, and community leadership, RBLA is committed to creating pathways out of homelessness.
"Ending homelessness together."
RBLA is committed to advocacy and community engagement. We participate in local initiatives, outreach efforts, and educational opportunities that raise awareness about homelessness and encourage collective action. Our mentorship programs further strengthen our impact by offering guidance, encouragement, and support to adults working toward long-term stability.
Through service, collaboration, and accountability, RBLA continues to invest in the Richmond community—building stronger connections, restoring dignity, and creating pathways toward a more stable and equitable future for all.
The Richmond Black Leaders Association (RBLA) is deeply rooted in the Richmond community and committed to serving its most vulnerable residents. Founded by local alumni, our organization is driven by a shared responsibility to give back to the city that shaped us. We work directly within Richmond and the Tri-City area to address homelessness through hands-on outreach, financial assistance, and meaningful partnerships.
RBLA actively supports community-based causes that promote housing stability, economic empowerment, and overall well-being. Our efforts include collaborating with housing providers, local organizations, and community leaders to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with safe housing, essential resources, and mentorship opportunities. By working on the ground and alongside trusted partners, we ensure our support reaches those who need it most.
